Turkishtime Turkey Energy Efficiency and Management: 2023 Survey Results

A comprehensive survey has been conducted by the Economy and Business World Portal Turkishtime regarding the studies and investments made by Turkish industrialists and exporters in the field of “Energy Management and Energy Efficiency” in 2023. This first survey, called as the Survey on Industrialists and Exporters Investing in Energy Efficiency and Management, has demonstrated significant findings along with the data for 2023. The results of this survey will be presented to a wider audience in digital format as the Turkishtime Turkey Energy Efficiency and Management Report to be published in December 2024.

The Turkey Energy Efficiency Top 100 Survey will be regularly conducted every year and create a reliable data source to monitor the performance of Turkish industrialists and exporters in this field. This survey reviews the expenditures and investments in the field of energy efficiency and management of the top 1000 producers and exporters in Turkey and the largest 500 and second 500 industrial corporations listed by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry.

The questions kit for the relevant survey study has been prepared by EPSOL Consulting Company for Turkishtime, and has been finalized upon obtaining the opinions of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources - Energy Efficiency and Management Association (EYODER) and shared with the companies on the Web.

In this first survey, a questionnaire was sent to a total of 1500 industrialists and exporters. 138 of these companies participated in the survey. The data quality of the participating companies was meticulously accessed, and 80 companies were included in the creation of the survey results according to the survey methodology. However, due to the fact that certain companies did not fully understand the questions in the survey and due to the confidentiality concerns of certain companies, sufficient responses could not be received and these companies were excluded from the assessment for these reasons.

As this is the first survey conducted for this year, this indicates that certain companies have reservations about participating in the survey.

However, the data provided by the survey demonstrates that it offers opportunities for wider participation and making more investments in the upcoming years. The participating companies have shown interest in energy efficiency and energy management and have taken the opportunity to measure their performance in this area. The increase in participation ratios in the upcoming years has the potential to reveal that the awareness and investments of Turkish industrialists in the field of energy efficiency are increasing.

This survey acts as a valuable reference to better understand the condition of Turkish industrialists towards energy efficiency and energy management and to monitor their development processes in the future. The investments being made by participating companies in the field of energy efficiency would contribute to achieving their sustainability goals and gaining competitive advantages.

The Turkey Energy Efficiency Top 100 Survey aims to make the spending and investment performances of our companies in energy efficiency and energy management a valuable reference source not only in Turkey but also on an international scale next year (as of 2025). Starting from 2025, the Energy Efficiency Top 100 Survey is planned to be published as a report in Turkish and English. It will provide a great opportunity to introduce Turkey's performance in the field of energy efficiency on a global level. In this way, Turkish industrialists and exporters will be able to efficiently display their success in the field of energy efficiency and sustainability worldwide.

Our industrialists and exporters, which are the locomotives of the Turkish economy, will become more visible thanks to this survey that will make their dedicated studies in energy efficiency and management known on a global scale. This report, which will explain Turkey's energy efficiency performance, will provide our industrialists with competitive advantage in international markets and constitute a significant milestone on Turkey's path on energy efficiency.

The most important data provided by this survey is the development potential of Turkish industrialists in terms of energy efficiency, energy management, sustainability and emissions. Investments in the field of Energy Management and Efficiency play a crucial role in terms of both environmental and economic sustainability. Surely, this process requires a transformation that will take time. As sustainability and emission management become increasingly important themes globally, Turkish industrialists are taking important steps in these areas and will continue to do so.
